Gorgeous children’s book about Saudi Arabia in the works

I have been collaborating with my friend Karien on a special children’s book. Karien and I worked together in the school library in our small community in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Even if we didn’t meet in the library, we likely would have become friends eventually during my six years there because we both share a love for reading and learning. Our project is a book for children (and their families) who have lived in Saudi or currently call the country home. This project is our homage to the people, places, and things that make Saudi a special place.

This morning I received the latest set of illustrations from our artist, and I simply cannot contain myself! Justine is incredibly talented and every time she reveals her artwork to us, I feel so much joy and excitement. She captures the essence of Saudi in the rich colors she uses and the detailed renderings she comes up with. We’re still a long way out from getting this project to the printer, but I wanted to give you this update so that you can start getting excited about it, too. This is going to be a gorgeous book and I cannot wait to share it with you.
