Chúc Mừng Năm Mới

It’s already mid-January and Tết is just around the corner. Can I confess that our Christmas tree is still up?

Lots of signs and wishes for a great Year of the Rabbit, but did you know that in the Vietnamese zodiac, we celebrate the Cat and not the Rabbit?

There are various explanations for the difference, including the word for rabbit in Chinese sounding a lot like the word for cat in Vietnamese. Another is that Vietnam suffered a serious rat problem, so the cat was put in place to take care of the pesky rodent. However you celebrate, I wish you a wonderful and festive time with your family (and/or friends).

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới and Happy Year of the Cat!
