It’s a Wrap, 2022!

Is it just me or did 2022 fly by in a rush of excitement and milestones?

My primary goal this year was to publish my memoir. Tied to that was: 1) Build relationships with other authors and storytellers of Viet roots; 2) Get my book into the KU Bookstore (Go Jayhawks!); and 3) Have my book added to college level reading lists.

I’m happy to report that I met all those goals, including #3! I found out earlier this month from Professor Suzanne Yeager at Fordham University that she will include Salted Plums on her course reading list this Spring semester. Woohoo!

My writing goals for 2023:

  1. Publish Book #2, a children’s picture book that I had wanted to publish in 2022 but was put on hold since available funds went toward launching Salted Plums into the world.
  2. Continue working on Memoir #2, an exploration of life and family that is in very early draft form.
  3. Revisit children’s stories that I previously drafted and rework them to make them shine.

Have you jotted down your goals for the new year?

I’ve got a project that I promised to deliver to the Vietnamese Boat People podcast. Stay tuned for that to come out in the next couple months. Until then, Happy New Year!
